The Internet and cable TV to Telia
After the connection, residents must register the Internet to activate it.
University students can access the JYU university network in the future as well regardless of the Telia change.
The Internet and cable TV service provision for Koas will be transferred to Telia (former Sonera) during the spring and summer of 2017. In the future, Telia´s 100M Internet connection will be included in the rental. If residents have pay services from service providers other than Telia, it is advisable to terminate the contract already in advance.
After the Internet service transfer, customer service related to Internet connections will be provided by Telia. Accordingly, later on, residents will no longer contact the Koas office in matters related to the Internet, but they should contact Telia. Telia´s customer service serves our residents at Tel. 0200 11611.
In the future, family apartments will be provided with only one connection per apartment. This means that if a family apartment has earlier had two Internet sockets, only one socket will be available after the change. Shared apartments will still be provided with an Internet connection per each room. Before the Internet service transfer to Telia Koas repair technicians will visit the apartments to mark the Internet sockets that will be left in use. Sockets remaining in use will be identified with green labels. Simultaneously, the technicians will remove any extra Internet sockets from use.
Since the transfer project includes three separate steps, residents are advised to closely follow the procedure. Telia will send a letter to the residents as the work progresses. The residents will also be kept informed of the progress by email. Therefore, it is good to immediately check the email contact data at Koas Booking as well as the computer's email reception settings. It may also be a good idea to keep this article for future reference.
Steps of the Telia project:
– Between March and June, Koas repair technicians will visit the apartments to mark the sockets remaining in use and to remove any extra connections from use. Koas will inform the residents of the apartment visits separately for each housing site.
– Between April and May, the cable TV of the housing sites will be connected to Telia in stages. Each housing site will be separately informed of the exact time of the change. Follow the instructions provided by Telia to ensure TV reception in the future as well.
– Between May and July, the Internet connections of the housing sites will be transferred to Telia. Each housing site will be separately informed of the exact connection time. After the connection, residents must register the Internet to activate it. The connection is registered either on Telia´s self service portal or via the telephone service. The Internet will not function without registration. Register your Internet connection in accordance with Telia’s instructions only after the connection has been connected. You will receive more detailed instructions for this at a later stage.
